Steam Boiler

STACKER

A Non-IBR Steam Boiler is a type of steam generator that does not require certification from the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) authority. These boilers are commonly used for small-scale applications where the steam pressure and capacity fall below IBR-defined limits.

🧰 Key Features of a Non-IBR Boiler:

Feature Details
Capacity <22.5 litres(steam generator volume)
Working pressure ≤ 10Kg/sq.cm²
Steam generation Less than 800kg/hr
Fuel Type Diesel, gas, wood, electric, etc.
Installation No need for IBR-certified inspectors
Mobility compact and portable

🛠️ Key Components

  • Combustion chamber(for gas/oil-fired units)
  • Burner or heater
  • Blower or fan
  • Heat exchanger(for indirect types)
  • Temperature controller
  • Ducts and insulation

📊Typical Specifications

Parameter Range
Capacity 30,000 – 20,00,000 kcal/hr
Output air temp 60°C – 450°C
Fuel type Diesel, LPG, PNG, wood, coal, electricity
Efficiency 70–90% (depending on type)
Control system Thermostat or PLC-based

🏭 Typical Applications:

  • Laundry and dry-cleaning units
  • Small food processing units (e.g. bakeries, rice mills)
  • Food processing (e.g., dehydration)
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Garment ironing units
  • Small-scale chemical and dairy plants

✅ Advantages

  • No IBR license required— quick deployment
  • Lower cost
  • Compact size— ideal for small operations
  • Easier maintenance — fewer regulatory constraints
  • Faster delivery time — fewer compliance steps

⚠️ Limitations:

  • Not suitable for high-pressure or large-scale applications
  • Limited steam output
  • Cannot be used where IBR compliance is mandatory (e.g. large industries, power plants)

🧾 Regulatory Note (India):

If the boiler shell volume exceeds 22.75 liters or it generates steam above1 kg/cm²,
it becomes an IBR boiler, and you must
  • Use IBR-approved components
  • Register with the boiler inspector
  • Conduct hydro and steam tests
  • Renew certification annually
