A Non-IBR Steam Boiler is a type of steam generator that does not require certification from the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) authority. These boilers are commonly used for small-scale applications where the steam pressure and capacity fall below IBR-defined limits.

If the boiler shell volume exceeds 22.75 liters or it generates steam above1 kg/cm²,
it becomes an IBR boiler, and you must
  • Use IBR-approved components
  • Register with the boiler inspector
  • Conduct hydro and steam tests
  • Renew certification annually
